U9s vs. Seacroft

Long away trip today over in Seacroft and I was a bit apprehensive knowing they demolished a team in their last fixture and they did have some bigger players than our lot but I shouldn’t have worried because my team are all awesome!

First half we stuck with the same starting lineup of last week, most of the players are now in what I think are their natural best positions to help the team. Rory in goal was awesome and pulled off at least two fantastic saves, one was fingertips! Blake, Leo and Logan were rock solid in defence and worked well together as a back 3 stopping any attack for Seacroft. Toby and Regin are the engine room in our midfield with plenty of running and intelligent ball movement they really work well together and compliment our defence and attack. Finlay was lone striker and grabbed a couple of goals, a penalty and a well struck free kick. We brought Archie on in defence with Logan and reverted to a back two and a partnership is already flourishing their, despite Logan wanting to play in attack. Ayla came on in midfield and worked hard to get on the ball and break up play.

Second half we continued with Rory in goal who again was immense with Archie and Logan in defence. Logan this time did manage to break out of defence with a solo run up the pitch for his first goal of the season with a great shot Leo, Louie and Ayla were the midfield and worked hard to break up play and put balls through to Reign up front and despite him not getting a goal he worked so hard for the team and on another day would have got one. We mixed it up for the last few mins and had to bring Leo off after a crunching tackle gave him a nice egg on his head. Rory pulled off another great save to keep the score line as it was and ensured a great finish to a great game.

The kids are bonding well and starting to understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses and playing for each other. We have got off to a great start and everyone left smiling and happy with another great team performance.

Player of match was Logan
