About us
Welcome to Wakefield Owls! There is some information here about the club, the committee who help to run it, our vision and values.
The club was founded in 2016 with an under 11’s football team. The club aims to be an integral part of the community in the Outwood, Wrenthorpe, Lofthouse, Stanley, and wider Wakefield area by providing sporting opportunities to young people and adults. We want to make sporting activity available to the community and to make sport an integral part of the community by encouraging regular challenging fun activities in an inclusive, safe and nurturing environment.
Currently, our permanent home is Stanley Rodillians Rugby Club. All of our home matches and training sessions take place here, apart from winter training. We have a very strong relationship with the Rugby Club and the local community.
Club committee
Our club is all about the players, but there are some key people behind the scenes who keep the club running
Football associations
We play in the Garforth Junior Football League. This has the reputation of being one of the best leagues in the UK. The league is very competitive and teams are generally placed in divisions of equal ability teams. We believe this is very beneficial in terms of both player development and having fun.
England Football Accredited
We are proud to be an England Football 2** Accredited Club
England Football Accredited leagues and clubs raise the bar and lead by example for football in England. Being England Football Accredited demonstrates that we create more chances, for more people, to play and enjoy football.
Accredited clubs and leagues lead the game by example. We are a safer, stronger, more effective and more enjoyable Club to play football.
