YELLOWS 3 v GARFORTH 2
Great morning and great conditions at Manley Park today for our second league game of 2022.
Owls started off quite slow, and we looked half asleep for the opening spell of the game, it was a bit scrappy and hoof ball at times, certainly not the pretty flowing stuff we usually see from the side. Garforth took the lead from a soft penalty but some theatrical diving in the box earned them a penalty which was successfully converted.
This seemed to fire the team up and the Owls were hunting for an equaliser and we started stringing some good passes together, the midfield were holding the ball up well and were now feeding great balls through to Jaiden and Jack, the pressure and determination paid off and in the last 2 mins of the first half Sam brought us back on level terms at 1-1
The second half was a different story. The Owls came out with intent and the effort was fantastic, it still wasn’t pretty but we now had a grip of the game, Jaiden put Owls 2-1 up with a cool finish, him Jude, Jack were a handful in the second half, Garforth pulled one back through a lack of concentration at the back and we didn’t clear our lines and got punished. 2-2
The last 10 mins was end to end as both teams wanted the 3 points. The Owls really showed some fire now, loud, cheering, encouragement, and team work were on show and we kept the pressure on searching for the winner. Harrison, Jude, Sam, Jack, Ozza were relentless now, they were pressing, and hunting every loose ball, and the pressure hit Garforth as we regained possession and played Jaiden through on goal only for him to pulled back in the box …… penalty !!!
Jaiden didn’t fancy it, Sam confident as ever stepped up…. Bottom right corner, no chance, 3 points Owls !

Gilly - Harrison, absolutely fantastic on the left wing, great skill, composure, and vision, created the buildup for both goals
Keith - Ozza, unbelievable feet and individual skill, got stuck in, played great balls through, and controlled the right channel
