U13s Yellows vs. Bramley

Yellows 10 v bramley 2

Great morning for the yellows this morning as we took a trip over to bramley, great conditions, cool, the pitch was a bit on a slope, not ideal and was narrow and long, makes you really appreciate the fantastic facilities we have at our club.

Bramley are in our div this season so today was all about getting the minutes in and gauging the level of the opposition ready for the new season.

The first half was a decent close game tbh we had the better of the chances and looked more dangerous, we were playing up hill so we were at a disadvantage from the off but we knew going down hill the second half was going to play into our hands as there legs tired. We set up initially defensively as we sussed the opposition out, but it Became apparent our midfield and attack were going to be a handful for bramley, Jude, fin, ozza, Oscar, Sam, Harrison, and Jaiden were on fire, linking up, strong, and good movement saw us create and take our chances and Jude was the first man to break the deadlock, followed shortly after by Oscar D who put a clever worked corner from fin and Jaiden away, the pressing from our midfield was our strong point today, the team looked and knew which side to target as they saw weakness in the bramley left back and ozza exploited this as he showed quick feet and skill to turn the left back inside out and get his shot off 3-0 Owls.

Bramley in the dying minutes of the first half managed to claw a goal from a set piece and another from a well worked corner

HT 3-2 Owls

The second half we were down hill and with our pace I was expecting us to now dominate and take charge of the game, and this is exactly what we did. Our defence was comfortable on the ball and our wing backs were confident pushing up pitch and taking players on, Dexter, cam, Oli, batey, Maisie all had a great game, did what we asked, and listened to our instructions, they had a relatively easy morning partly due to work rate and effort from the midfield who cut most attacks out.

This Half saw some awesome football and a bit of goal fest, but I was impressed with the determination and our attitudes we were the hungrier side, and the opposition coach even said we wanted it more, as we never gave up and won 90% of the duals and almost every second ball, and when in possession we were calm, picked a pass, and made the right decisions, out of possession we were hunting in packs and trying to regain possession which was awesome to see as this is what we have been instilling in to them week in week out and it’s our style and how we want to play every week.

Ryan was back to his usual self, diving around you would never think he’s just come back from a bad shoulder injury lol, made great saves, and fearless as ever Really proud of today’s performance from the squad, we’ve set the standard and now let’s get into the season and show every team we mean business again

GOALS Jude Oscar D Ozza Jaiden Maisie

MOM - hard to choose today, Harrison, Sam, Maisie, Oli L, Fin, Ozza we’re all on top form but if I had to pick one it would be Harrison (even though he turned up in yellow kit) good stint in defence, and a good shift as striker, caused the opposition back four a nightmare, looked alert, sharp, and hungry s as bud great attitude
