So this morning our Wakefield Owls Under 10 girls played Division 1 Halifax in a cup game at home.
As coach Powell said after the game we won't come up against a team at their level for the rest of the season. A well drilled side, everyone comfortable on the ball and obviously coached to know their positions and used to playing together. It would be fair to say we didn't have many touches in their box and whilst I could tell you the final score it isn't important.
What is important is that every single Owls girl gave their all and never let their heads drop right up until the final whistle, tirelessly trying their best.
We had 9 players available with the starting line up being:
Goalie - Daisy.
Defence - Poppy, Evelyn and Rosie.
Midfield
Molly and Ivy.
Attack
Izzy.
Subs
Lena and Esmai.
Q1 saw
Molly come off with Esmai on.
Start of Q2 changes were
Poppy and Evelyn off with
Molly and Lena on.
At Half time the raffle takings were £17. Thanks everyone and one of us won the Raffle!
Q3 began with
Poppy and Evelyn on with
Rosie and Izzy off.
During Q3
Poppy came off and
Rosie on.
Q4 began with
Ivy off and
Izzy on.
The girls were overwhelmed today but kept going and fought hard to the very end.
Daisy made some great saves to keep the score down.
At times we defended valiantly against an onslaught with Poppy, Lena, Rosie, Evelyn, Molly and Esmai all putting great blocks and tackles in and Ivy and Izzy tirelessly trying in vain to link up and get us forward.
Their coach's player of the match was
Izzy and our Parents player of the match was Daisy.
As usual big thanks to all parents and supporters for help with the set up before and clear up after the game.
Onwards and upwards with training next Friday and back to Division 4 league action next Saturday with Wigton Moor Foxes away. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.
