U8s vs. Scot FC

Today saw us travel over to Scot Fc for our second league match of the season

It was Great conditions, the pitch was fine, although on the sidelines it was “dodge the turd” which just makes you realise how lucky we are with our facilities and private pitches which are poop free.

Today we had a full squad to choose from we had plenty of subs to make positive changes when needed which is great to see the commitment from you all.

We again split the match into 4 quarters like last week to again give us time to chat to players after each 10 min match, this works much better in my opinion at this age.

Game 1

We started slowly in the first match Toby up front came close a few times to break the deadlock but the GK made great saves, at the opposite end Frankie was doing some great saves of his own, as Scot fc had a great player (number 7) who was holding there team together and creating multiple chances and scoring all their goals, Dylan did a great job and was his usual self putting in great tackles and stopping them, making good driving runs also.

Noah and Archie combined well together in midfield, some great passing and great timed runs to get Toby in space, we just couldn’t capitalise.

Game 2 Our super GK Kyron was on fire he really enjoys been GK and asked if he could stay in more, he made outstanding saves throughout this spell. Frankie and Dylan worked well together and gave us good pace and skill travelling with the ball up the field, Zach did a spell as defender and used his size to his advantage, and shielded the ball great, bringing other players into play.

Franklin was playing in his usual and favourite position as striker, he again like last week showed great skill, and good footwork, and I thought his first goal was going to come as he found space but narrowly missed the target, it will come mate, keep giving it your all every game.

Game 3 This game we clicked, and we started playing with much more intensity, and as a team, and it really showed, Noah did great in goals, and hood distribution, Toby absolute solid in defence, cutting out lots of attacks from again their 7, Harley and Archie worked there socks off, once they master their “left” and “right” we will be bang on Noah did a stint up front during the changes and made a positive impact, he did really well with his tackling today also and was much more composed.

Game 4 This was our best match of the 4, we defended fantastic, and we attacked with purpose, there was nothing in this game at all as both teams battled for the win, Kyron again unbelievable in goals making great saves showing no fear, Frankie in front of him put a shift in and worked his socks off tracking players and throwing himself into challenges.

Franklin was midfield along with Archie and both used the pitch width good, good linking up between each other and good passing. Zach did a job up front, and so did toby and both were looking sharp, Toby got the first goal with a great finish and did some outstanding long range shots which narrowly missed but it was great to see him expressing himself on the pitch and having the confidence to do it.

We finished with a fun penalty shootout where we were awesome.

MOM - My son and Oscar from my U14’s picked this as they were the helpers today, it was a close call between you all but Toby just pipped it.

Well done everyone a great match and again you are all improving every week with your understanding of the match, a lot of these teams have already had a full season last year at U7, but we are adapting and learning and improving week on week which is all we ask from you.

Super proud of you all!

Big thanks to my assistants today my son Finlay and assistant Oscar, it’s great to see the older kids from our club helping the new generations coming through, thank you boys.

And thanks to the parents giving up your Sunday morning to get the kids there to play, the smiles on the faces is worth it.
