U8s Girls vs. West End Terriers

Girls were away to West End Terriers U8s this week.

Played in 4 quarters the first half of the game saw Terriers feed the ball up pitch through the Owls defence but each attempt saw some great saves by our new recruit Daisy and also some fab ball ownership by Amy.

Owls defence blocked the balls coming in and tried to keep it away from their goal. Using what we had focused on in training they used space to pass the ball upfield to our waiting bullet Izzy who was quick to turn and run at goal making Terriers defence ensure they were quick to react and tackle. The first half ended as 0-0.

Start to the second half was a little ropey with Owls stood watching Terriers run straight through the defence and slot a goal home. Quick wake up call and with heads up Owls ploughed on trying to get the ball upfield. Although the opportunities were there Owls weren’t able to get onto the score board and Terriers were able to score a further 2 goals with the the game ending 0-3 but the progress these girls have made in a short space of time makes me very proud.

Esmai, Amy & Molly were all over the field today, pushing up when the game allowed but tracking back when Terriers were on the attack. They made some great tackles and interceptions stopping the opposition in their tracks.

Izzy was unlucky not to score today, she had some lovely passes into her and was quick to run past the defence and get the shots in.

Poppy and Lena held their own in defence, attempting to stay with their players and add that pressure.

Daisy tried her hand at all positions today making great saves but also getting stuck in with the tackles outfield.

A mix up with Owls numbers saw both Izzy and Daisy be picked by the opposition for their award of a huge chocolate bar which they shared.

Izzy got the Owls player of the match.

All girls played very well today and should be very proud of themselves.

GO GIRLS!!!

Our newest recruit Carys is in the process of being registered which takes our squad of girls up to 9!
