U16s vs Farsley Celtic
An entertaining match against very strong opposition. OWLS started reasonably well and were certainly full of confidence, maybe a little too much, as they looked to stretch their 9 game winning streak to 10.
A few half chances falling to The OWLS inside the first 20 minutes were squandered. Then the opposition keeper handled just outside his box- free kick to Max Richardson, he curled the ball around the wall and with the keeper beaten it was 1 nil.
OWLS seemed to go into 'slow motion' mode then and were generally coming off second best. Farsley conversely were working hard to get themselves into the game. Their chance came before half time-their throw in specialist could literally launch the ball right into our box from any throw ins that were in the final 3rd (we definitely need to widen this pitch 😆).
One of these was glanced in by Farsley to make it 1 1 at the half.
Into the second half and OWLS were definitely second best, Farsley created a lot of very decent chances and OWLS were only saved from going behind by some superb work from 'keeper and today's MOM James Hargrave. Much against the run of play though OWLS went in front again 2 1 with 20 minutes left. It looked unlikely though that this would be the final goal of the match and so it proved, as despite James' heroics the visitors made it 2 2.
With the final whistle OWLS had managed to cling onto the draw and cement their top two league position.
'A funny old game' one we didn't deserve to win but nearly did.
Next week Garforth rangers at home.
