U12s Yellows vs. Crofton

Yellows 7 v Crofton 0

Top of table clash today at Manley park, and a chance to close in on Crofton who are the current league leaders and unbeaten this season.

I was really looking forward to this fixture as I felt hard done by when we played them in the first game of season back in September and they took 3 points from us, since that game this team has found there feet and settled into the league and we’ve had great additions to the squad too which has really made a positive impact.

We started off looking Sharp and energetic and pressing hard which is what myself and Keith wanted from the first whistle, we made good choices when in possession and used our wingers to great effect with fin making great runs and putting some good crosses in and it didn’t take long until Jacob P converted to put us 1-0 up, this settled us down and we looked calm and confident as we passed the ball around and made fluid passes.

Charlie was the next on the score sheet with a well taken goal that was set up with the quick thinking of Ryan who made a big boot which caught Crofton out and Charlie used his skill to turn 2 defenders and slot the second home 2-0 Crofton we’re not liking this and you could tell they were in unusual territory and they started arguing amongst them selfs, the owls sensed this snd took full advantage and fin pressed well from a poor goal kick and got a shot away to sneak it in the bottom corner 3-0

With ten minutes left of the first half it was pure domination, Charlie was turning the Crofton winger and right back inside out and before the break he got another 2 well worked goals one was a solo effort and the other was a culmination of fluid passing and timing the running to perfection 5-0 HT

HT team talk was about continuing to do what we was doing, we knew we had got in Crofton’s heads now and there team was falling apart. Their HT team talk was totally different to ours as it was them arguing and blaming each other

The second half kicked off and now it was game management and good rotations to ensure we keep fresh legs and nullify anything Crofton had to throw at us, our defence was outstanding today, talking covering players if they went up, and team work, every player knows there job and slots into covering positions perfectly, Noah, Oli L and cam really have good chemistry and Kwami sitting in CDM really dictates the play as we go forward to link up with the midfield which consisted of fin, Caiden, Jaiden, Charlie, who were outstanding all game both attacking and defending and creating chances, and some tackling from Jaiden who is the smallest kid on pitch, I thought he was unbelievable chucking himself into everything.

Our two strikers were Jacob P and Marshy who were the only 2 scorers in the second half, Jacob P has been a new lad for the last few weeks, he’s always been a talented player who is tricky with good feet and is arguably one of our most clinical finishes when he lets his left foot go, but has always lacked some grit and aggression but wow the last few weeks He’s done nothing but impress me and Keith with his strength and aggression, today he was the same, shouldering players off the ball, crunching tackles, winning 50/50 battles and second balls it is so refreshing to see him play now like this and long may it continue, he got a well deserved second goal in the second half taking the score to 6-0

Marshy was the other striker, strong performance today linking up well and made some great runs after been fed some lovely balls through from the midfielders, his goal came late on in the second half and took it brilliantly to seal the game off 7-0 FT

I will add today that Ryan despite the scoreline did get worked hard but he made some brilliant saves and he continues to dive the length of the goals and top corners like he’s on springs. Unbelievable talent

GOALS Jacob P Charlie hat trick Fin Marshy

MOM Keith - full team Gilly - Noah, again showed so much heart in his game, tackling and cutting out attacks, pressing, not giving up, attitude, and team work, faultless

I will finally add how proud me and Keith are of this team, every week you give 110% and never complain if we move you positions, make subs you all just get on with it, and work as a team and this is the reason we are smashing this season.

Well done boys!

Big thanks to Sara for the tuck shop and half time treats, and thanks to Ricky and Mikey for helping set up this morning and everyone who helped pack up. It’s much appreciated
