U12s Yellows vs. Rothwell

Yellows 8 v Rothwell 2

Today’s game hosted by Rothwell was played on there 3G facility at fleet lane, most the team have not played on this type of pitch much so it took some time to get used to the pace of the ball on the surface, we looked in control from the off and started well and fin didn’t take long to get on the score sheet and put us in front with a clinical finish, this set the lads going and they were looking strong and pressing high to keep Rothwell pinned back, however this caught us out as Rothwell played a ball through with a Rothwell player off side by a Mile but the ref gave the goal much to the questions from Our defenders who worked hard to keep the line.

We then hit back with a brilliant corner delivered brilliant and a superb attacking header from fin who put us back in the lead.

Owls continued to press hard and Caiden, marshy, Kian, Jaiden and Harry were linking up very good up the pitch and Kian took advantage of a sloppy play from the defence and stuck the ball in the bottom corner. It wasn’t long after restart with our pressing we did it again with the pressure we were putting them under and it caused them to panic in there own half Caiden took full advantage hit a shot and it deflects off there defender into the goal. Caiden claimed as an assist lol.

H-T 4-2 Owls

The team talk at HT was just to sort our moaning out, play to the whistle and look to control the game better now and easy balls.

We came out second half full of confidence and rightly so, Kwami, Oli L and Charlie were absolutely solid in defence and were playing some nice balls over the top and out wide to Jacob p and fin who both were dangerous on the flanks, then some brilliant build up play with a combo of slick 3-4 passes saw Caiden finish it sweetly to claim our 5th.

Owls totally in control now and all the players were linking up better this half and finding space and giving options while attacking forward, Jacob p was next to find the net with again a great finish which now put surely out reach for a Rothwell comeback.

The last 10 mins saw us make a few changes due to injuries, Jaiden was one of standout kids today he was all over the pitch and was denied an earlier opportunity by the woodwork but his effort and tireless running paid off when he got him self on the score sheet with some magical footwork and a sublime finish to finish the game off.

F-T 8-2 to the mighty Owls
