U12s Yellows vs. Garforth Villa

Well what an awesome team effort this morning against a side that is in the division above the yellows, we will be promoted to the division they play in so today was all about a challenge and test us to see the standard for next season

YELLOWS 10 v GARFORTH VILLA 2

We set up this morning strong and due to some yellows not available due to been away and last minute injuries we had no subs so some good fitness in the bag for the squad too.

We kicked off and Jaiden and Kian were pressing high, causing problems, and putting villa under pressure from the off, it didn’t take long until this intensity and pace from the press paid off as within 6 mins both had got on the score sheet, Garforth came back with a spell of pressure and got there Number 7 in behind us who sneaked a goal in to put the pressure on us for a brief spell, this pressure from villa didn’t last long and the owls stamped there dominance on the game again when Asem and jaiden were the next pair to fire Owls back into the lead and going in at HT full of confidence.

The first half was a settled display from the Owls, we looked solid at the back with Dylan, maisy, kwami, Oli G. Oli G had the Number 7 in his pocket and totally isolated him from his game, and he was the main threat but we neutralised this and they didn’t know how to respond.

The second half we made a few changes Dylan, Oli G, Kwami and Maisy, all pushed forward and we dropped Kian, Fin, Oscar, into defence, Kian not his usual position was fantastic, he again was there to neutralise the fast counter and no one was getting past him at all, all the back 3 linked up beautiful. Kian Also made a last ditch tackle in the penalty area timed to perfection to prevent a goal scoring opportunity. Very well done !

Ozza, played some crucial balls through and held the ball up well and put some great deliveries in to the waiting strikers, he also showed his power and eye for goal with a great shot to bag himself a wonderful goal. Dylan and Asem, were linking up great both showing excellent feet, and vision, and were not scared to settle down on the ball and continue to keep the pressure on with some clinical passing, the midfield used the width perfectly and spread the ball out wide to both Ozza and Maisy who was now having a spell on the wing in midfield, she took to this position like a duck to water and her strength and speed terrorised the poor right back, once on the ball she was direct and she also got numerous crosses into the 6 yard box where there was a handful of owls ready to pounce, and pounce they did where Dylan grabbed his second of the match from a fearless header from a cross from Maisy.

Maisy continued to exploit the right backs lack of pace and some great through balls from Kian sent her 1 v 1 with the keeper and with her power and precision the only place that was going was back of the net.

I Have to finally mention Jaiden, this kid is something else, his power, his skill, his energy, his vision, is just amazing to watch, he totally thrives on the way we set up, and the system of play we instil into the squad, and combined with his composure in front of goal it’s no surprise he’s a constant scorer every week and today he got 4 fantastic goals, and was my MOM

Goals from:

Kian Jaiden Dylan Ozza Asem Maisy

MOM Gilly- jaiden, great team effort but his contribution is fantastic, and his effort from first whistle to final whistle is just 100% all out attack. Amazing talent

Keith - Maisy, no surprise here, she was solid in defence, and then stepped up to RW and was unbelievable there too, such a great talent with bags of potential. Very week done

Such a pleasure to coach all you girls/boys every week, this showed us today that not only were we solid in our current division, it shows we can step up and dominate and I look forward to the new season with this fantastic set of kids who show great character and team spirt, the key to the success of this team is you all trust your team mates, and all play for each other with encouragement.
