Ladies vs. Clifford

Wakefield Owls LFC played against Clifford Ladies today. It was a well matched game and both teams played really well.

Clifford scored 2 good goals within the first 20 minutes. This was swiftly followed by a brilliant goal from our very own Jess, bringing the owls back into the game!

We got a bit sloppy in the middle of the pitch with some unfortunate misses which Clifford ladies took full advantage of trying to get a few more goals, luckily our keeper Joy saved several shots and kept the score sheet to a minimum.

One of our defenders gave away a free kick in the danger zone which was shot wide thanks to a tight defensive wall. Unfortunately not long after this the Clifford ladies managed to get another shot on target which was just our of our keepers grasp.

The mighty owls got a free kick just outside the Cliffords box but our captain Ann-Marie was just unable to put it away this time, with the opposition managing to deflect the free kick as well as Ann-Marie’s second and third attempt from the initial deflection.

Final score was 3-1 to Clifford ladies. The opposition gave their player of the match to joy for pulling off some cracking saves. Our player of the match went to Beth for some brilliant clearances.

To say they have only played 3 games I am immensely proud of how far they have come! Well done ladies, onwards and upwards!
